Flyers CJ - Childhood Memories

Since joining UK Scrappers I have enjoyed doing many of the weekly and monthly challenges and learned lots of new techniques.
I know my style of scrapping has benefited from the input of all the talented people who share their experience in the galleries and in the forums, so inspirational.
I don't think I would have had the confidence to join a circle journal group, a year ago.

For Becky's CJ, theme - Childhood memories - I sorted through some old photos that my mother gave me years ago and the memories just came flooding back.
A very keen dressmaker my mum, like many other 50's housewives, liked to dress my sister Rhonda and I alike and the Simplicity paper patterns made this possible even on a tight budget.

These pages completed our Flyers Newbie Circle Journal but we all enjoyed doing it so much we're decided to go for a second go round beginning 1st May. Part deux!

In the meantime, I have a few finishing touches to add then I can post cover to cover photo's of my very first circle journal.

March Counterfeit Kit challenge 2 - Vera Bradley

When I saw the second CK challenge this month I was a very happy girl, I love Vera Bradley bags!!
Although many find the vibrant and colourful mixed paisley patterns a little over the top, I think there should be at least one VB bag in every girl's wardrobe, just for fun.
I bought my first VB bag in about 2007 the pattern is called Emily and has since been retired. I use it as a catchall for my toiletries and it really comes in useful when I travel.
A few days ago I purchased a large hipster bag on ebay, it should be here any day now.
The pattern is a mix of blue, pink & lilac paisleys on a black background.
It is also a retired pattern (2011) and although the VB site lists it as a winter design I think it's fab and love the name "Symphony in Hue"!

This is the page I created from my "Knickerbocker Glory" counterfeit kit for the VB challenge, using 3 patterned papers, washi tape, wood alpha's (gessoed & inked) and Teresa Collins embellie & enamel dots.

Flyers Circle Journal - Favourite Places

When I saw the theme, Favourite Places, that Elaine chose for her circle journal there was only one place in my mind - Hilton Head Island.

The SP and I have enjoyed so many wonderful vacations in HHI, the jewel of the South Carolina Low Country.

We have now, reluctantly, sold our Marriott timeshare on the island but I'm sure that won't stop us from going back when we next get the chance!

CKCB March - Knickerbocker Glory!

I'm a bit late getting started with this month's counterfeit kit due to a bad case of bronchitis. the good news is that the antibiotics have kicked in and so today I spent a few minutes playing with paper and counterfeiting my kit.

The Soda Shoppe kit by Noel Mignon:

and my counterfeit kit: Knickerbocker Glory!

As you can see there are no straws in my kit but the design team have provided some great tutorials for creating our own, so I'll give that a go.
Also, no date stamp - yet! I have ordered one on ebay and will collect it from my sister next week when we visit the Yorkshire Dales.
